Zhou Huyi, Concertmaster of the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, is a rapidly rising Chinese violinist, highly praised by internationally renowned musicians.
In 2002, Zhou was admitted to the middle school of the Xi'an Conservatory of Music where he was under the guidance of Prof. Zhang Zhiying, Dr. Wangdan, and Dr. Xie Min. He served as the principal second violin of the Juvenile Symphony Orchestra of Xi'an Conservatory of Music during his high school period.
In 2010, he was admitted to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the University of Singapore to further study under the guidance of Prof. Zuo Jun. He was awarded a place in the Texas Music Festival in 2012. Zhou has lead the Singapore Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Orchestra as the Concertmaster during his undergraduate period and formed a piano trio and a string quartet.
In 2014, he won the second prize at the "Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition", the third prize at the "Singapore National Piano & Violin Competition", and the second prize at the "Asian String Competition". In the same year, he was admitted to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as a part-time player.
He continued his studies after enrolling in the postgraduate program at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden with outstanding results in 2015. His tutor was the famous violinist Prof. Igor Malinovsky. Meanwhile, he signed a contract with the Dresden Residenz Konzert Chamber Orchestra. He graduated in Dresden in 2018 with full marks.
At the 2020 YMCG Music Festival, he was Soloist and Concertmaster of the YMCG Orchestra alongside the world-renowned cellist Yoyo-Ma.
