Introduction

The 2023 edition of our Summer Festival ran from August 1 through August 8 at the MA'GO Music Academy and at the Love²Arts Gallery in Antwerp.

International Young Talent Music Competition

The International Young Talent Music Competition took place on August 7.  The candidates were rated individually, not by instrument.

This year's winners:

Musafia prize: Jiwoo Son
1st prize: Noah Lee
2nd prize: Chanki Lee
3rd prize: Sophia Morys

Jurors: Artur Kaganovskiy, Sung Ju Lee, Olsi Leka, Päivyt Meller, Laurentiu Sbarcea, Raphaella Smits, Dirk Verelst (chairman) and Frederic Blockx (secretary).

Program:

Applicants under the age of 12 at the time of subscription choose their own program (maximum duration 10 minutes).

Program for violin (12 years and over)

  2. Johann Sebastian Bach — 1 movement from Solo Sonatas & Partitas (free choice)

Program for cello (12 years and over)

  1. Johann Sebastian Bach — 1 movement from the Suites for solo cello (free choice)
  2. Carlo Alfredo Piatti — 1 of the 12 Caprices for solo cello, op. 25 (free choice)

Program for guitar & historical instruments (max. 15') (12 years and over)

  1. Leo Brouwer or Wim Henderickx — 2 pieces or 1 movement (free choice)
  2. Johann Kaspar Mertz or Manuel María Ponce — 2 pieces or 1 movement (free choice)

Final concert

The final concert, held on August 8, featured the winners of the International Young Talent Music Competition and the masterclass professors.
